'84' on stage - TAKE 2... In 1982, Ellen Burstyn and Joseph Mayer stepped out on stage at the Nederlander Theatre, 41st St, New York, in the first American production of "84".

One year into its run in London, the play opened in New York. Unfortunately, it didn't carry well across the Atlantic. Labelled by critics as "saccharine", "superficial", "vacuous", "lazy" and "insipid", it ran on Broadway for just 96 performances, from Dec 07, 1982 to Feb 27, 1983.

The play has since been performed by hundreds, if not thousands, of dramatic societies globally.
